She held him in her arms one last time
Close to her bosom and embracing him tight
Fulfilling her promise to protect him from all evil
And vowing to make everything alright
The tears were same as she held him over two decades ago
Just the smile had been replaced by a silent scream
The heart cried and soul was shocked
What the eyes witnessed was perhaps a bad dream
Then she had held the little bundle alive and kicking
And today he lay in her lap lifeless and so still
A frozen smile adorning his serene face
Assuring her that his promise to her he did fulfil
He did not let his mother down
He filled her heart with a sense of pride
He did not let his life go waste
He bid her adieu with a meaningful sacrifice
